Galbraith reveals new Coach was the Clan key

NEW Braehead Clan signing revealed owner Neil Black was behind the move to Scotland – but new coach Drew Bannister finally sold him on it.

The 29-year-old forward made his rumoured switch to the Clan, sparking excited frenzy among the fans when the news broke.

But Galbraith admitted he wasn’t moving north of the border from Nottingham Panthers until speaking with Bannister first.

He said: “I know Neil obviously as the owner of Nottingham and Braehead and at the end of last season, I hadn’t decided what I was going to do.

“He called and said it would be a great opportunity to play for the Clan, so I gave it some thought.

“I’d spoken with the coach about working together before and I told Neil that I wouldn’t move to Braehead until I’d spoken with Drew.

“He’s played at every level you could possibly play at and we talked about what roles he wanted for the team and for me and that made the decision a lot easier.”

Fans of the club were buzzing with excitement at the news of Galbraith’s arrival and judging by his stats, no wonder.

In 164 matches for Nottingham Panthers in the last three seasons, Galbraith scored 69 goals and created an amazing 168.

As well as winning the Elite League play-offs and the Challenge Cup, the Canadian was the Elite League’s third highest goalscorer and top player for assists last season.

Coach Drew Bannister was equally delighted to land his first signing for the Clan after taking over from Bruce Richardson last week.

Bannister said: “Jade is one of those players that have something about them and having played against him, I’d much rather have in my team than in the opposition.

“He knows what I’m expecting from him and while I know what he’s very capable of on the ice, there are parts of his game he can improve and I aim to help with that.

“Jade’s talents speak for themselves, he’s an offensive threat, and will improve our offense this coming season.”
