SLOVAKIAN forward Peter Holecko is looking forward to teaming up with pal Tomas Valecko after signing for the Edinburgh Capitals.

The 6ft 3in forward is the latest name to join the Caps as they gear up for the new ice hockey season and aims to makeEdinburgha tough force.

Holecko said: “I’m pleased to have signed for Edinburgh and especially pleased to being on a team with Tomas.

“I’m hopeful with us on the team, we can make the Capitals a team to be reckoned with in the new campaign.”

As well as being reunited with pal Valecko, he was also a team-mate of Miroslav Droppa, a defenceman that played at Murrayfield between 2003 and 2005.

His 431-game experience of the Slovakian Extraliga should stand him in good stead for the trials of the Elite League.

And Caps General Manager Scott Neil is certainly hopeful the reports he received on his new acquisition will prove to be true when he arrives in early September.

Neil said: “Scouting reports from agents, ex-players and sources have all said that Peter, as well as Tomas, are good skaters and skilled players.

“This is typical of what I would expect from players with experience of playing inSlovakiaand have been keeping in shape inCardiffover the summer.”
